Egg Foo Young
Ingredients:
6 large eggs
1 cup bean sprouts
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
1/2 cup chopped mushrooms
1/4 cup chopped green onions
1/2 cup cooked shrimp, chicken, pork, or beef (optional)
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
2 tbsp vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions:
In a large bowl, beat the eggs until well combined.
Add bean sprouts, chopped onion, green bell pepper, mushrooms, green onions, and cooked meat (if using). Mix well.
Season with salt and black pepper.
Heat vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
Pour about 1/4 cup of the egg mixture into the skillet for each patty. Cook until golden brown on both sides and set in the middle, about 2-3 minutes per side. Repeat with remaining egg mixture.
Remove patties and drain on paper towels.
Gravy
Ingredients:
1 cup chicken broth
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional)
1 tbsp cornstarch
2 tbsp water
1/2 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp sesame oil
Instructions:
In a small saucepan, combine chicken broth, soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), and sugar. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water until smooth.
Gradually add the cornstarch mixture to the saucepan, stirring constantly until the gravy thickens.
Add sesame oil and stir well. Remove from heat.
